As part of the UN Assembly on 28 October 2020, we organised and managed a digital-online side event for the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung.
A moderator guided seven international speakers through their contributions and then moderated a Q&A session with up to 100 participants.
With the help of simultaneous interpreters, the event could be followed in two languages. After a briefing discussion with the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung, we developed various options based on tools available on the market.
Together, we then decided on a video conferencing tool that sufficiently covered the necessary functionality.

After several months of planning, including the transformation from an in-person to a virtual anual shareholder meeting, we successfully realised two of them.
Our task was the technical conception and planning (design planning and implementation planning) for the audio, lighting, rigging, video and set construction trades, as well as the supervision of the work planning of the executing trades and the technical management during the implementation.
With the transformation to a virtual general meeting, the entire production was increasingly viewed and treated as a TV studio production.
To ensure uninterrupted operational reliability, we duplicated a large number of components in the video and audio control room.
Two identical audio and video signals were transferred to the streaming portal and transmitted to the shareholder portal via three lines.

The conference was originally planned as a hybrid event.
In the end, it was a pure digital-online event. The process of change was a constant exchange of ideas, proposed solutions and consultations.
With our digitalKWERTZ Tech Hub, we extracted image and sound signals from the individual experts and moderators from a video conferencing tool, remixed them and sent them to all participants via our streaming platform.
We attached particular importance to consistently good sound quality.
As with a TV show, we treated all incoming images as camera images and activated them as required by the production process.
We brought together 4 different tools.
These tools are a video conferencing tool, a video production tool, a software-based online digital audio console and a streaming platform with Q&A and moderation interface.
All participants were super happy with the event. On the one hand because of the topic of “diversity” and on the other hand because the 7-hour event had a look and feel that was clearly different from what had been known to date.
The organiser Fond 360° and our client WILSON*BORLES were also very satisfied with the result and our commitment during the transformation process and the development of the digital-online format.
